Unlike most of the other roles for ICP, there aren't many places to go to find out what to expect, or to ask questions. So I am gunna attempt, as time passes, to relay my experiences and also to post liks of other peoples experiences to help out those in my situation in the future.

Definately listen to Inside the Magic, an amazing podcast. You can find them online at www.distantcreations.com/insidethemagic/

One place to go is TiddelyPom's blog (www.tiddelypom.moonfruit.com), another character ICP 2008. Another blog by another ICP (though not character) can be found at (http://theresthisbench.wordpress.com/)

One thing I did to pass the time while I was waiting for my phone call was practice character autographs-- slightly pointless as I am certain they give you time to learn them done there, but it kept me amused. I would print off copies of their autographs from http://home.att.net/~disneysue/characters/wdw/disneycharacters.html and then trace them, then practice them on my own.

My name is Steffie Davis, I'm from Ottawa, Ontario (Canada), and I love Disney. Wow, it sounds as though I am announcing an addiction, and I suppose that is exactly what you could call it. Disney is very important to me- I loved the movies and tv shows when I was younger, my first trip to Disney World in April of 2002 was life-changing. I managed to use my obsessive nature to my advantage with that trip, researching Disney and Walt and Hidden Mickeys and turning it into a project for marks in school.

This past summer, my family again spent 24 hours in a van to and from Florida to visit the mouse. And on this trip, I not only saw the magic of Disney, but I also noticed all the people-- I'm not talking about all the guests, but about all those people who made the magic happen. And I noticed somethings that they all had in common- they were all smiling, and they were all making thousands of other people smile. I realized that there was something here- something I could be involved in. and so I set out to find a job at Disney. Fast forward about six months through the teasing of my friends and past all those people who still think I am kidding, and you'll find me where I am now...

I am leaving on May 25th 2008 for my dream job, working at Disney til August 8. I can't wait!

This website has a bit about me, it will have lots about my adventure, my photos of Disney, and some info on how to apply should you be of a mind to embark on a similar adventure. Hope your Disney dreams come true!

Also, http://www.disneyinternationalepresentation.com/summer/ is pretty much word for word the presentation given by the Disney recruiters before your interview. But below I'll outline my experiences so far, and hopefully that will help you out.

So the first step to applying for me was researching the heck out of it. I knew I wanted to be a character, but I wasn't sure this was possible through the international program (it isn't mentioned on the website at all) so I was working with another website as well, disneyauditions.com. After reading all about the living arrangements, work, etc. on both of these websites, I finally got the courage to apply. Being from Canada, my second step was to send my resume and cover letter via email to Cast-A-Way resort hiring. If you are from another nation, check the ICP website to find the agency within your country. The third step is a phone interview, and, provided you pass through this step, you will be invited to your fourth step, a face to face interview. After this, there is a brutal week or two or three spent waiting to hear whether or not you were hired. Hopefully, you will be, and I'll see you in Orlando!

"A partial or complete image of a Mickey Mouse that has been hidden by Disney Imagineers and artists in the designs of disney attractions, hotels, restaurants and other areas. These images are designed to blend into their surroundings. Sharp eyed visitors have fun finding them. "

Apparently they started when construction of Epcot began and the plan was to leave mickey and minnie out of it completely, restricting the characters to Magic Kingdom in an effort to make Epcot more grown up oriented. Imagineers couldn't resist hiding the characters in their designs, and now hidden mickeys are everywhere, and people like me loooooove finding them. Talking to cast members about hidden mickeys is really fun- sometimes they get really excited and tell you ones that arent in the book, or that are secret. One older man that was working in the africa area of animal kingdom last time I was there pointed out four that weren't in the book and was soo funny about it, he would whisper them to me and make me swear not to tell my family, who were looking on and laughing at how happy the two of us were with our secret. Also, pointing out easy hidden mickeys around ppl who don't know about the concept can be fun, cause they are always really impressed. The book can be really specific-- I didn't use the clues part, I wanted to know exactly where to look so I read the descriptions of where precisely to find the hidden mickeys, and I think I found just over a hundred (I'm looking through the pages, I checked off the ones I found.) In the book there are 700 hidden mickeys, so yeah, a fair few... Here's an example...

CLUE: Find a classic Mickey formed by plates on the wall of one of the rooms you pass through on the way to the ride. (Kali River Rapids)

Hint: The mickey is tilted down and to the right

And also, apparently, there are lots of behind the scenes hidden mickeys that only cast members have access too.... another reason to work for disney!
